Steve Ouimette is an American Composer/Artist/Producer for video games, television, movie trailers and streaming media.

Since 2000, industry veteran Steve Ouimette’s relentless drive, obsessive attention to detail and wide-ranging versatility have made him a go-to composer for blockbuster game franchises such as Call Of Duty, Far Cry, Ghost Recon, The Crew and Guitar Hero. A lifelong guitarist, he is also a first-call session player for games such as Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy, Deathloop, World Of Warcraft as well as commercials and entertainment programming.

In 2022, Steve reconnected with Activision to compose music for Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Modern Warfare 3 as well as Season 2 (MW2) and Season 5 (MW3). In addition to the in-game music he also composed 17 bespoke national anthems to celebrate the World Cup in Modern Warfare 2.

Following the success of Guitar Hero III: Legends Of Rock (the first video game to exceed $1 billion in sales), Steve dedicated himself to creating forensically accurate covers that aim to reproduce the sound of the original master recordings. To date he has created over 300 songs that can be heard on the Guitar Hero, Rock Revolution and Just Dance franchises. This led Steve to start a thriving business working with classic artists (Alice Cooper, Public Enemy, The Knack and more) to recreate new master recordings for licensing in television, trailers, streaming shows and commercials.

Steve also manages both APM Music’s ENDGAME and Pop Machine sync libraries. Since 2009 he has written and/or produced over 1000 tracks for APM, Universal Music, BMG, Pitch Hammer, Bruton, Sonoton, Atomic Overture and X-Ray Dog with tens of thousands of placements heard on every major network and streaming platform.

In 2011 Steve began a long-standing relationship with CBS’s eternally popular “Let’s Make A Deal” where you can hear his music 5 days a week year round.

Recently, Steve was commissioned by the Marquee Sports Network to compose, arrange and record the official theme for the Chicago Cubs. With styles ranging from cinematic orchestral to blues rock to Hip Hop, the theme has nearly a dozen iterations for every possible scenario in broadcast and on the field for live games.

When he’s not making music, Steve is making tools to make music.  He’s an avid tube guitar amp builder, FX pedal tinkerer, stringed instrument builder & collector, and virtual instrument library creator (including the 14-year running “Cinematic Guitars” virtual instrument series with Sample Logic). He also has written over 100 articles and reviews for Premier Guitar Magazine and has his own YouTube channel dedicated to music and guitar history, video game soundtrack breakdowns and forensic re-recording.

Steve holds a B.A. in Music Composition and Performance from Cal State East Bay and yet after all these years nobody has ever asked him to show his degree.

He lives with his wife, 5 cats and a dog in sunny Scottsdale, Arizona.
